20.03.2023: Project day: Bochum pupils visit the faculty

Organised by the Chair of Urban Water Management and Environmental Engineering, last Thursday (16 March 2023) prospective A-level students from the Lessing School in Bochum were given a wide range of insights into the tasks of civil and environmental engineers.

16.03.2023: Hydrology Day 2023

On 21-23 March 2023, the Hydrology Day 2023 will take place at the Ruhr-University Bochum. The event will be hosted by the Chair of Engineering, Hydrology and Water Resources Management at the Ruhr-University Bochum and the Department of Hydraulic Engineering and Hydromechanics at the Bochum University of Applied Sciences.

15.03.2023: Get-together for International Women's Day

On the occasion of this year's International Women's Day on 08.03.2023, the Student Councils Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering and Computational Engineering invited all interested parties to a get-together, the focus of which was the informal exchange about gender-relevant issues.

13.03.2023: New enclosure for shotcrete test stand "SCOTT"

The Chair of Tunnelling and Construction Management has been operating the Sprayed Concrete Testing Unit for Tunnelling (SCOTT) in the KIBKON hall since the mid-1980s. Now, after long planning, the installation of the new enclosure of the sprayed concrete test stand took place.

13.03.2023: Plenary Meeting of the Civil Engineering Student Council

On Thursday, March 16, 2023, the BauIng student council invites you to its next plenary meeting. The main topic on the agenda of the plenary meeting will be the election of the new student council. The event will take place at 5 p.m. in the Komm-Raum IC 03/173 and invites you to a cozy get-together afterward. Interested students are cordially invited to participate in shaping the plenary meting, to vote or to be elected.

03.03.2023: Online survey on "turbo roundabouts"

For research work on "turbo roundabouts", Julian Schmitz, research assistant at the Chair of Transport - Planning and Management, together with colleagues from the Technische Universität Dresden, invites everyone with a driving licence to take part in an online survey. After extensive analyses of traffic and accidents at turbo roundabouts, the online survey will be used to develop further potential for optimisation concerning reservations, signage and orientation at such roundabouts.

22.02.2023: TANDEM.MINT: Language learning programme for engineering students

The language tandem programme offers ING students at RUB an individual and subject-related form of language learning. In an exchange with a MINT tandem partner who speaks the target language as a native speaker or at a high level, language skills can be expanded in a subject-related context and specialist vocabulary can be acquired. Interested students can register until 9 April 2023.

14.02.2023: Energy saving measures: Audimax closed and weekend operation on Saturdays and Sundays

In order to continue saving energy, additional measures are being implemented at the RUB: The Audimax will remain closed until the end of the winter semester 2023/24. Campus-wide, there will be a switch to weekend operation from 1 March 2023, so that there will be no public traffic in the other buildings on Saturdays and Sundays. Central controls in the buildings for heating, ventilation and lighting will be adjusted and events will be clustered in certain buildings. The University Library is also affected and will close two hours earlier each day from 1 March. Read more here...

06.02.2023: Info event for engineering students: "Career paths after the Master's degree"

After the Master's degree into practice or into science? On 30 March 2023 from 3 pm, the three Engineering Faculties invite their students to the information event "Career paths after the Master's degree". In addition to general presentations by the Career Service, the RUB Research School and the WORLDFACTORY Start-up Center, participants can expect reports from practice and science as well as a direct exchange with alumni and doctoral candidates.
